Australian TV news reporter Cass Loukas finds herself elbow deep in the story of her life when she and two LAPD officers happen upon a dark and desperate man who has committed an unspeakable act of violence.
The killer takes another life in his bid to flee from their grasp before he is shot dead by one of the officers on a pavement in Downtown LA — right as Cass Loukas is about to become his next victim.
The shooting is caught on camera and only she has the footage, potentially embarrassing to the LAPD considering they were the ones who put Cass in harm’s way.
Still shaken by what she’s witnessed, she snaps into professional mode as her coping mechanism, knowing this is the story that will turbocharge her lacklustre career.
Ears still ringing from the gunshot, hands still red with the blood of the victim who died in her arms, Cass just manages to keep it together on camera and tell her story to the world.
She becomes a worldwide phenomenon overnight.
She also incurs the wrath of a hard-core female homicide detective in charge of the investigation, who believes Cass bears responsibility for one of the murders.
But Cass has a much bigger problem… it turns out this killer’s run is far from over.
